Your First Two Visits
At Mark O’Brien Chiropractic, we keep things clear and straightforward from the start. With over 25 years of experience, we’ve found that beginning with a two-visit approach allows us to deliver the most effective and personalised care.
Your first visit - whether at our clinic in Townsville or during our scheduled appointments in Hughenden - includes a review of your health history, a thorough assessment, and a gentle, low-force chiropractic adjustment. If clinically needed, we’ll refer you for spinal imaging ahead of your second appointment.
During your second visit, we’ll take time to explain your results, including any X-rays, and discuss what they mean for your spinal health and overall wellbeing. We’ll present care options tailored to your goals and provide another adjustment aligned with your unique needs.
This two-step process gives us time to properly evaluate your condition, avoids overwhelming you with information on day one, and supports a more confident, comfortable start to your chiropractic care.
To book, call our team on (07) 4721 1011. You can also learn more about your first and second visits via our website.

Regular Chiropractic Visits
Regular chiropractic visits at Mark O’Brien Chiropractic may be characterised by the following:
- They usually involve just an adjustment.
- They are of 5-10 minutes duration, usually, based on the findings from the initial examination and present findings, neurological and physical.
- They build on the appointment before. Missing a visit may result in a loss of momentum in making the needed changes to your spinal function.
- Visits permit assessments to determine if progress is on, ahead or behind schedule, allowing your care plan to be adjusted accordingly

What We Do
Chiropractic
Chiropractic treatment is based around specific adjustments of the spine. This may help with improving posture, assisting with pain management, providing stress relief and more.
Torque Release Technique
We use Torque Release Technique for gentle, precise spinal corrections. This neurologically based method helps restore balance and function without forceful manipulation, making it ideal for clients who prefer a low-impact, targeted approach to chiropractic care.
Sacro-Occipital Technique
The sacro-occipital technique supports spinal balance through the pelvis and skull. Great for sensitive bodies or anyone needing a gentler approach to alignment. It’s especially helpful for those with chronic conditions, postural changes.
Thompson Drop Piece-Table Technique
The Thompson drop-piece table technique allows for focused, low-impact adjustments that still pack a punch where it counts. This method is ideal for people seeking precision adjustments, improved comfort with minimal force.
Activator Technique
The Activator Technique involves a handheld instrument that delivers fast, controlled impulses to targeted areas. It’s gentle and precise, ideal for those who prefer adjustments without manual pressure. We use it to address a range of spinal concerns.
Diversified Technique
A classic hands-on method, Diversified Technique involves manual adjustments to restore movement in the spine and joints. We use this versatile approach to relieve tension, improve alignment and support overall musculoskeletal function.
Advanced BioStructural Correction (ABC)
ABC targets mechanical stress in the spine caused by structural imbalances. We work to correct misalignments the body can’t self-fix, supporting posture and breathing. It’s an advanced, corrective method that aims to address the root cause of dysfunction.
